Supporting independent media is more important than ever. As we witness the shuffle of staff and values at legacy media, we must hone in on and support Black independent media. Below is a list of Black Media brands to have on your radar to read, support, or sponsor from all over the world. This list doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the brands doing great work, if there’s a Black Media brand we’ve missed, please tag them below and share with your friends looking to diversify their media diet.

Citizen Magazine

Founded in 2017, it exists to fill a gap—by us, for everyone—bringing fresh, meaningful perspectives to the forefront.

GUAP
GUAP is a digital media brand spotlighting emerging artists, musicians, and creatives across fashion, culture, and art. Celebrating 10 years, it provides a network of care that nurtures and amplifies the next generation of storytellers. In addition to serving as a streaming home for hundreds of intersectional pilots, series, short films and video art, OTV presents an annual fellowship, hosts an educational workshop series, and mounts an internationally recognized film competition.

DADDY Magazine
DADDY Magazine is a Black-owned, Berlin-based publication centering underrepresented voices.
